Interest Groups

Richmond CFUW Interest Groups

The meeting times and contact information for each interest group is located in the Members Section. Most groups meet September to June, but a few may continue through the summer.

Coffee Group   The coffee group meets the first Friday of each month between 10 am and noon. A member volunteers to host in her home with one person helping. It is a drop-in event with no set agenda or sign up – a great way to get to know each other.

Lunch Bunch    Members venture to a different restaurant for lunch once a month, usually in Richmond.

Dinner Club      The focus for this group is good food and sociability. Participants meet for themed potluck dinners in members’ homes with 4 couples several times a year. Each year starts off with an appetizer/dessert party. Partners or spouses are welcome.

Pot Luck Gals     Similar to the Dinner Club but a smaller get together of members for a pot luck dinner at a members home about once a month.

Afternoon Book    This is a lively group that has been active for over 40 years. Members meet monthly on the second Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. in a member’s home. They discuss their choice of the two books selected for that month.

Evening Book    The Book Club Leader chooses a book set to  read and discuss at the next meeting. There is always a wide-ranging discussion and a broad range of opinions. Meetings are at members’ homes on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m.

Afternoon Mystery Book     This group is open to interested mystery readers. Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 1:30pm in a members’ home. The books are selected from a wide variety of mystery books and authors including contemporary, historical, police procedurals, legal etc.

Walking Club      Members meet every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. rain or shine. They walk on the west dike from Garry Point for about 1/2 hour each way. Coffee often follows.

Film Group      Members meet monthly for an evening starting with dinner then a movie at the Riverport Cineplex.

Bowling        A great and fun way to get some exercise. This group meets at The Zone Bowling at Riverport at 10 am the first or second Saturday. 

Euchre      An easy to learn card game for groups of 4. This group meets in a member’s home once a month. Beginners are welcome.

Bridge Group    This group meets to play bridge in members’ homes once a month. A schedule is set up with groups of 4 and rotates players and hostesses each month. The hostess arranges a time and date to accommodate the players in her group. At the end of the year the group meets as a whole. All levels welcome.

Saturday Activity Group -currently on hold- needs new leader   This group meets occasionally when a club members finds an interesting Saturday or Sunday event and organizes the group.

Third Age Learning at Kwantlen (TALK)    Members of this group organize Philosophers’ Corners and courses for people over 50 for Third Age Learning at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (TALK). Usually meets the third Monday of the month at 1:30 pm. Visit www.kpu.ca/talk
