Richmond CFUW Interest Groups

The meeting times and contact information for each interest group is located in the Members Section.

Coffee Group:   The coffee group meets the first Friday of each month between 10 am and noon. A member volunteers to host in her home with one person helping. It is a drop-in event with no set agenda or sign up – a great way to get to know each other.

Lunch Bunch Members:  Group ventures to a different restaurant for lunch once a month, usually in Richmond.

Dinner Bunch:   This group is similar to Lunch Bunch but will meet for dinner at a local restaurant one evening a month.

Dinner Club: The focus for this group is good food and sociability. Participants meet for themed potluck dinners in various members’ homes with 4 couples several times a year. Each year starts off with an appetizer/dessert party. Partners or spouses are welcome.

Pot Luck Gals:  Similar to the Dinner Club but a smaller get together of members for a pot luck dinner at a members home a couple of times a year.

Afternoon Book:   This is a lively group that has been active for over 30 years. Members meet monthly on the second Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. in a member’s home and discuss their choice of the two selected books for that month.

Evening Book:   Members choose a book to discuss each month and can always count on a wide-ranging discussion and a broad range of opinions. Meetings are at members’ homes on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m.

Afternoon Mystery Book:   This group is open to interested mystery readers. Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 1:30pm in a member’s home. The books are selected from a wide variety of mystery books and authors including contemporary, historical, police procedurals, legal etc.

Walking Club:   Members meet every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. rain or shine. You can then choose an hour long walk along the west dike or a shorter walk into Steveston, maybe stopping for coffee.

Film Group:   Film Group Members meet monthly for an evening starting with dinner then a movie at the Riverport Cineplex.

Bowling:  A great and fun way to get some exercise. This group meets at The Zone Bowling at Riverport at 10 am the first or second Saturday.

Euchre:  An easy to learn card game for groups of 4. This group meets in a member home once a month. Beginners are welcome.

Bridge Group: This group meets to play bridge at members’ homes with one table every month. The schedule is arranged to accommodate the members. At the end of the year the group meets as a whole. All levels welcome.

Saturday Group:    This is a group for anyone who is interested in joining us in various activities that take place once a month, usually on a Saturday but sometimes on a Sunday. The events are varied and follow suggestions of anyone who has an interesting place in mind to visit and explore. This group is presently on hold.

Studio 58 Theatre Night:   We will car pool and attend the four productions put on by the Professional Theatre Training Program at Langara College.

Third Age Learning at Kwantlen (TALK):   Members of this group organize Philosophers’ Corners and courses for people over 50 for Third Age Learning at Kwantlen (TALK). Usually meets the third Monday of the month at 1:30 pm. Visit www.kpu.ca/talk .
