Over $200,000 in scholarships and bursaries is presented each year by CFUW clubs in BC.
CFUW Richmond provides scholarships annually to young women graduating from Richmond Secondary schools. The Richmond School District designates the schools and the school staff selects the qualified recipients. The recipients must be eligible to attend a post-secondary institution and have participated in other aspects of school and community life. Members of our club present the scholarships at the schools’ valedictory ceremonies held every June.
Scholarships may also be awarded to The Richmond Women’s Resource Centre (RWRC). The recipient will have completed a pre-specified course(s) in the Work Ready Program.
To commemorate our 40th anniversary in 2007, CFUW Richmond established an endowment at the Richmond campus of Kwantlen Polytechnic University. The first annual award of $1,000 was presented in the fall of 2012 and will continue on an annual basis.
“There’s a serious side of what we’re all about – community, government, education. It’s nice to have a forum to discuss these topics in.”
“ It makes me feel good (and proud) to know that we’re helping young women with educational scholarships – this is a cause worth supporting.”
